"What a great site! I love it! I think changing the public perception of breastfeeding to show mums they can stay stylish and still breastfeed is much needed to fill a support void in Ireland. Culturally it is our public perception which holds so many people back.

TheBreastWay guide to stuff you might need (just for breastfeeding)

(Click here for what to bring to the hospital)

  • One Boob
  • One baby
  • Front opening PJs/ Nightie
  • Breast pads
  • Our fav: Johnson and Johnson (available most supermarkets/ chemists)
  • Nipple balm
  • Some women swear by it, some don’t
  • Our fav: Lansinoh

 

Once you're home:

  • Breast pads (lots of em!)
  • Breastfeeding Pillow
            Our fav: Boppy pillow (www.boppy.com or ebay)
  • Nipple Shields (if sore/ flat nipples)
            (we say get them if you need them!
  • A good nursing/maternity bra (yes, they’re the same thing).
            Our fav: Agent provovateur (you may snort at this but we promise even Trinny and Susannah couldn’t fault the great                                                no-underwire-but-give-as-good –a shape they give! (available at Brown Thomas)
 
            Others available:
                    Mothercare, Elle McPherson, Medela, Marks and Spencers, Dunnes….
                    The list is endless…
  • A nighttime nursing bra - youll find these so compfy you'll use them during the day too! 15 euro at www.onceborn.com
  • A breastfeeding vest/ t shirt top with lycra
                No, you may not feel up to wearing lycra but we promise whatever size you are, the Boob tops available at Onceborn.com are fab fab fab.
  •  
    • Some vest tops (glamourmom) obliviate the need for a bra with a secret support layer too)
  •  
    • You can also wear 2 vest tops and pull the inside one down under your boob – saves money! Good once you get the hang of it! But we still favour the lycra for ease and less fumbling!
    • another useful thing is thebreastvest (www.breastvest.co.uk) - covers your tum and allows you to use your fav nursing bra - genius!!
  • A wrap top –
                Cashmere if you must but these are fantastically useful over the above mentioned boob tops – for discretion, warmth, style….
 
  • A Sling
    • So handy for non-buggy times, and newborns much prefer to be snuggled right up to you … all day long.
    • Great for feeding, better for your back than “front loaders”.

    • Available in most homes, but just out of reach when little one arrives!

  • A manicure and pedicure (we love Mink salon)
  • A weekend in Doonbeg Lodge (blisssss)

  • And if you’ve absolutely zero cash…
